BIOGRAPHY
Sandi Jade's fascination with texture comes from an interest in senses; how texture can create and heighten certain senses and how we emotionally respond to materials. She questions how materials converse with one another, preferring clay and textured fabric, she explores the relationship between comfort and repulsion. The body and it's fluids, interior spaces and orifices are a central theme. Growing up in The Royal Forest of Dean, she is deeply rooted to the wild places in nature. As a child she explored these hidden, mysterious spaces, intrigued by the unseen and visceral flora and fauna. Research into historical, cultural and religious myths and folklore, in particular ones of the female body and mind are an integral part in the development of her practice. As a mixed media artist, she uses installation in which to evoke the sense of entering into another world, realm or interior of a body. |
